Psalm 105:1 Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known
His deeds among the peoples!
During last term, I was given the wonderful opportunity of exploring
our beautiful country and travelling up the East Coast all the way to
Cape Yorke, which is the most Northern part of our continent. Whilst it
was a wonderful experience, it was also a time of reflection for me and
an opportunity to spend quality time with my family.
During our holiday, we were ‘captive’ to many hours in the car and
caravan with just each other. Although this was something we wanted,
it was also quite stressful. I constantly needed to remind myself to use these opportunities
together to display and teach my children our family’s values and morals, and where those
principles come from, whilst also being able to just relax and spend time together. Often in
our day to day busyness, trying to make ends meet, we forget the importance of prioritising
spending quality time with our families: a holiday, watching a movie, going out for tea, walks
on the beach…
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Scott Carson and the wonderful Harvest staff
team, as well as the Tyndale Head Office, for ensuring things ran smoothly while I was away. I
definitely feel refreshed and ready for this next season at Harvest Christian College (Tyndale
Kadina).
There are many exciting things happening around our school. Last week, our library upgrade
went out to tender. Initial plans for the upgrade are included in this newsletter (on page 14)
so families can visualise what this will look like. Our focus has been to ensure our library
caters for the ever growing needs of our Secondary School, whilst also capturing the special
place reading has in our Primary School.
Last week, our school showcased the subjects, courses and pathways available to our
students in the Secondary School, in our Subject Marketplace. We thank the Universities and
various trades for being available to talk to our students and offer opportunities to them.
You may have noticed during this event that there were some sheep outside to promote our
newest subject, Agriculture, which will be available to our Secondary students next year. The
Agriculture area was fenced during the holidays, and sheds will go up over the remainder of
this year so that this subject is ready to go in 2025. Our focus will initially be on agronomy and
sheep, with laying chooks to come at a later date. We are looking forward to getting these
focus areas running really well, so that we can look even further into the many different
areas that Agriculture has to offer as our school grows.
I would like to thank the many students and parents who have welcomed me back this
term, and look forward to continuing in my role, together with our team, to ensure Harvest
Christian College prospers in the future and continues to be a light-giving Glory and Honour
to God in our community.
