Super Volunteers
Janel LeGard
MENTORING YOUTH TO
PURSUE EXCELLENCE
During her 23+ year tenure with Haskell,
Senior Architect Janel LeGard has devoted
much of her free time to volunteer efforts that
serve the local youth of Northeast Florida.
Passionate about education and making a
difference in our community, Janel devotes
countless hours a year serving the youth of
Northeast Florida. With a passion for teaching,
she is involved with several programs focused
on coaching and mentoring youth to consider
careers in architecture, engineering and
construction. In addition to her mentoring
efforts with ACE Mentor and Architect Barbie
programs, Janel recently served as Haskell’s
representative for the Jacksonville Jaguars
MVP Program, which includes support for
education and child/family initiatives.

Janel also serves as an active board member with
Communities In Schools (CIS) and is currently
the Board Secretary. Communities In Schools of
Jacksonville is home to three core divisions that
enhance the lives of the students by furthering
the goal of dropout prevention through case
management, literacy tutoring and afterschool
programming. CIS surrounds students with a

A recent graduate of Leadership Jacksonville
(Class of 2018), Janel is vested in making
our community strong and vibrant by
pouring her energy into efforts that engage
our youth while also perfecting her craft.
The mission statement of LJ is to develop
community trustees by educating, connecting
and inspiring diverse leaders to build and
strengthen their communities. In March
2021, Janel was recognized in the Women in
History Program for the National Association
of Black Women in Construction (NABWIC)
at their annual Hard Hats & Heels event.
