Ending the suffering of a 6 years old child using pediatric nephroscopy techniqu
The medical team at the Urology Center at Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam succeeded in ending the suffering of a 6 years old child from multiple corneal stones in the left kidney, which caused him persistent pain on the left side, enlarged kidneys,
and persistent infections.
Upon the arrival of the child to Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam, a study was con-
ducted and discussed between a consultant urologist Dr. Adel Farhat and the medi- cal team which consists of the Consultant Pediatric Surgeon and the anesthesiolo- gist. Based on the discussion, a decision was made to perform an operation (stone extraction of Cornea of the kidney by mini nephroscopy), where a laser is used to break up the stones through a single hole not exceeding 6 mm, and the extraction of all stones and installation of an internal stent on the left side was done with God’s praise.
The child was fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital after 48 hours.
This type of procedures is considered as the most advanced and comes in line with latest medical technology, which is also in line with the vision of the Mouwasat Medi- cal Services Company in attracting competencies and delicate sub-specialties and
