Once upon a time%u2026Sunday morning 06.30 am, November 4th 1979, after a turbulentnight full of storm, I see the light of day. Growing up protected, withtwo good, hardworking religious people. I lack nothing, withoutgreat abundance. Each year on holiday to the Ardennes.Kindergarten is a horror. I am in the third kindergarten class of theneighborhood school. Our benches are placed in a U-shape, Sofie issitting next to me. In the classroom on the right a large greenblackboard and on the left a lot of windows, through which the sunshines. Our drawings are on the walls. It%u2019s a beautiful, warm summerday. My teacher is tall with blonde hair, she hands out an exercise. Idon%u2019t understand why I have to make that, so I refuse. The bellrings, everyone can play in the sandbox, in the sun%u2026 only I have tostay in the musty classroom... As a punishment for not doing whatis asked. In elementary school I%u2019m champion daydreaming, watching clouds, following a fly in the classroom, winning heroic battles and makinglong journeys in my own safe fantasy world, which is way moreinteresting than the learning material.Jo VolckaertExcalibur networkexcalibureventsgroup@gmail.comConnect with Jo on LinkedIn :www.linkedin.com/in/jovolckaertAs a fat kid I get bullied massively. I experience the school as pure horror and people as complicated. Learning really doesn%u2019t gosmoothly and I have problems accepting hierarchy. I have the feeling that the world doesn%u2019t understand me and I don%u2019t understand theworld.I AM.
