Choosing the right plant
Your heart might skip a beat when you see a beautiful plant, but choosing
wisely is always the best plan. So, bring both heart and mind when it comes
to selecting the plants you’ll be enjoying all season long, or for years to come.
Look carefully at the planting requirements for every plant you’re interested
in – perennials, shrubs and trees – then choose well, plant well, and enjoy!
Sun exposure:
Every plant requires sunlight to grow and flourish, but the number of hours may vary from plant to plant.

plants and how. It’s important!
Watering
Deep, from spring to fall for conifers, shrubs, annuals, and newly planted plants. Except
for annuals, once per week is sufficient. Always avoid watering the foliage.
Enough to maintain even moisture for shade plants. There is a crucial difference
between moist and soggy. Soil should be allowed to surface dry between waterings.
Thorough and preferably in the morning for annuals and tropical plants grown
in containers in sunny locations.
Remember!
Well-established plants do not require daily watering if they are planted in the correct locations, i.e., sun
or shade. Container-grown plants are an exception to this rule because the soil in containers dries out
faster. Watering is intended to bridge the gap between normal rainfall and the moisture needs of the plant.
