Not just a Homestay
Our homestay is home for many sisters who have decided to change their lives by
empowering themselves and contribute in socially responsible tourism. They came
from vulnerable communities of mountain village where gender based violence is
common and with determination to eliminate this social stigma, we have established
this Homestay not just to earn profit but to train, educate and provide these sisters
with employment and empower them.
W hat We Offer:
Accommodation: You can experience Nepali way of living with
all board meals in a homely environment with all basic facilities
in our homestay. The Home stay is located in Dillibazar,
Kathmandu and in Birauta, Pokhara. The sisters in the
home-stay will warmly welcome you to the house and will
ensure to make your stay in the home-stay wonderful and
unforgettable.
Cooking Class: SASANE Cooking Classes were created to help
empower women survivors of human trafficking and
exploitation. Most had to drop out of school and weren’t able to
get certified as trekking or tour guides due to their lack of
education. SASANE makes employment possible for them
through our cooking classes. We train them in basic culinary,
hospitality, leadership, management, and food presentation
k
skills. These women survivors support themselves by preparing
s
delicious Nepali food for tourists in our Homestays. They take
delight in passing on their acquired culinary skills to you
through SASANE’s Cooking Classes.
These food items are traditional Nepali Food of different ethnic
communities. Most popular is Nepali Thali and MO:MO among
others. Now you may also learn to cook and taste authentic
Nepali cuisines while staying at your home through our online
classes.
Cultural Program: We also organize cultural program upon
request. This cultural program depicts various dance forms of
different ethnic group and is performed by our sisters
themselves. The program can be arranged as part of the
cooking class as well.
Handicrafts Production: As part of the women empowerment
program, we have trained mountain village girls to make
beaded bracelets, key rings and other handmade products. You
may support them by purchasing these beautiful souvenirs for
yourself or loved ones.
