How Do I Know If a Service is Preventive Or Diagnostic?

Preventive care is deined as routine checkups undertaken without any
indication you are sick. For example, if you are scheduled for your annual

physical and you indicate to the doctor you have been experiencing an
earache, the checkup would turn into a diagnostic appointment. What
this means for you is the appointment is no longer covered at 100% and
may be subject to a deductible or copayment. To be sure an appointment
is preventive, you would need to come to the doctor’s ofice not
experiencing any symptoms and no reason to think you were unhealthy.

How to Access Your Preventive Services

Present your Reliance Standard ID card to the doctor or facility which
provides your services. The provider will send a bill to Reliance Standard
for payment. If you only received care for a covered preventive service,
you will not be charged for your visit. If you received a non-covered
service, you will receive a bill in the mail from your provider.
