How to Spend Your HSA
This is a list of eligible expenses you can pay for using your HSA savings. Eligibility

z Medical deductibles and coinsurance payments Because there are so many tax

z Medical, dental, and vision care services for your spouse or which you must meet in order to
dependents, even if they are not covered under the same plan as you open and contribute to an HSA.
To contribute to an HSA, you
z Medicare premiums and COBRA coverage must meet the following criteria.
z Over the counter medications with a written prescription z You must be enrolled in a
Qualiied High Deductible
As the HSA owner, you are responsible for determining whether a Health Plan, like Fontbonne’s
healthcare expense is eligible for reimbursement from your HSA. For a QHDHP plan

visit www.irs.gov and view Section 213(d) of the IRS Tax Code. which is not a Qualiied High
Deductible Health Plan
z You must not be covered
by a Healthcare FSA for the
Oice Visits tax year in which you will
claim your HSA deposits as
tax deductions, unless it is a
Limited FSA
Prescriptions z You must not be eligible to
be claimed as a dependent
on someone else’s tax return
z You must not be enrolled
Lab Work in Medicare, TRICARE, or
TRICARE for Life
