Disability
The short term disability plan (STD) and long term disability plan (LTD) are
designed to work together to give you the assurance of a continuing income if you
are unable work due to sickness or injury. The Standard will continue to administer
the disability plans. If you ile a claim for either STD or LTD beneits and are
approved, taxes will be withheld from your beneit payment.
Short Term Disability (STD)
GESM provides, at no cost to you, an STD plan. Enrollment is automatic. Our
company paid policy provides you with a percentage of your weekly income while
you are out of work following a non-work related accident or illness.
STD Benefits At-a-Glance
The Standard
Benefit Amount 60% of your salary up to a maximum of $2,500 per week
Waiting Period NEW—7 days for sickness and accident
Duration NEW—up to 13 weeks
Long Term Disability (LTD)
LTD protects your family by providing you with a percentage of your income while
you are disabled for a longer period than STD would otherwise cover. If you remain
disabled after STD beneits have ended, you may be eligible for LTD plan beneits.
Included below are a few beneit highlights.
LTD Benefits At-a-Glance
The Standard
Benefit Amount 60% of your pre-disability earnings up to $10,000 maximum per month
(minimum of $100 or 10% of benefit, whichever is greater)
Elimination Period NEW—13 weeks
Duration Up to age 65 or Social Security Normal Retirement Age if you continue to be
deemed disabled according to the plan requirements
