Mandatory Retail 90 for Maintenance Medications
To make life easier, our prescription plans require you to fill a 90 day supply of your
maintenance medications through Walgreens, Duane Reade, or OptumRx’s mail order
program. Examples of maintenance medications include birth control, insulin, high
blood pressure medicines, etc.. This saves you time and money with reduced copays
and reduced trips to the pharmacy. As of January 1, 2021, 30 day refills will not be
covered for these medications.
If you already have coverage through UnitedHealthcare, ask your doctor to write your
next maintenance medication prescription for a 90 day supply to be filled through
OptumRx’s Home Delivery or your local Walgreens/Duane Reade. You can call UHC at
800.765.6717 for additional program details.
The Classic HDHP and Value HDHP cover preventive medications at no cost to plan
