Introduction & Tips
Welcome to our kindergarten math book: Addition and Subtraction.
This book introduces addition and subtraction, initially with objects and then with
numbers (1-10) and equations. It is aimed principally at preschool and kindergarten
students.
This book emphasises learning by doing. Instruction by way of text is minimal and
students with limited reading ability should be able to tackle the exercises.
Some tips on using this workbook
• Ask younger students to read the instructions out loud. Help them as needed.
• Encourage students to draw shapes, objects, count fingers and so on to “work
answers out” any way they can.
• Review your student’s work and guide him or her through any answers that are
not correct.
• If a student struggles with a particular concept, download some free worksheets
for extra practice and repeat the exercises. Math skills build on each other, so
do not move onto other topics until your student masters the given topic.
