The tourism experiences training program is a significant effort by the Ajman Department of
Tourism Development to strengthen the local economy and empower youth by involving them
in the tourism sector. The goal is to cultivate new and innovative ideas for the tourism
industry while fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among young Emiratis. Through this
program, the department is supporting initiatives that highlight the natural beauty of Ajman
and its hidden gems, particularly the town of Masfout, and are offering visitors an immersive
look at the region’s rich cultural heritage.

The selected tourism experiences reflect the department’s broader vision to create
sustainable and enriching tourism offerings. These experiences not only highlight Ajman’s
scenic landscapes and historical sites but also promote the development of new economic
opportunities. Through their efforts, the two tourism experience creators—Abdullah Al Ali and
Mariam Al Hamrani—are committed to promoting local engagement, preserving cultural
heritage, and encouraging personal growth among both visitors and the local community.

Enhancing Sustainable Tourism and Community Engagement

A key aspect of the Tourism Experiences Program is its focus on sustainability and
community involvement. The training program has been designed to integrate green
initiatives that prioritize the preservation of Ajman’s historical landmarks and traditional crafts.
The emphasis is on encouraging responsible tourism that respects the local environment and

Khadija Mohammed Turki, a Tourism Marketing and Promotion Expert at the Ajman
Department of Tourism Development, emphasized the program’s commitment to creating a
space for local residents to actively contribute to tourism. The program’s ultimate aim is to
generate innovative activities and events that can help drive the growth and prosperity of
Ajman’s tourism sector. The hope is that these initiatives will inspire others to develop
tourism experiences that offer authentic and sustainable engagements, thus positioning
Ajman as a key player in the global tourism landscape.

Experience Masfout: A Journey into Ajman’s Heart

The tourism experiences created as part of the initiative focus on exploring Masfout, a region
known for its natural beauty and historical significance. Tourists visiting Masfout can expect a
two-day stay filled with diverse activities aimed at providing both adventure and cultural
immersion. During their visit, tourists have the opportunity to explore Masfout’s tourism
landmarks and sites, with activities such as hiking through scenic landscapes, participating in
meditation sessions, and learning about the local history and culture by visiting local
museums and farms.

Another unique aspect of the experience is the opportunity to explore the ancient water
channels known as Aflaaj, which have been an essential part of the region’s water
management system for centuries. Visitors will also have the chance to engage with local
families, spending a day as guests and gaining a deeper understanding of daily life in the
area. This personal interaction highlights Ajman’s commitment to creating authentic and
memorable tourism experiences that involve the local community and offer a true taste of the
Emirate’s cultural heritage.
