Showcasing Agriculture, Culture, And Sustainability

The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) is all set to launch the 10th Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival tomorrow,
Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Emirates Hospitality Center. Celebrating the nation’s agricultural heritage, the festival will spotlight palm
trees, honey, fruits, and other regional produce, while promoting sustainability, local craftsmanship, and agritourism.

This year’s edition is expected to draw broad participation from within the UAE as well as from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, and Egypt. The
festival will host a wide variety of competitions under different categories such as ‘Emirate of Ajman’, ‘North Emirates’, ‘Other Emirates’, and
‘Citrus & Fruits’. Renowned date varieties including Khalas, Berhi, Lulu, Khenaizy, and Ajman Palms will be featured in the dates contest.
Meanwhile, the honey competition will highlight types such as Sumar, Crystallised, Sidr, Beeswax, and others.

The event will also host fruit contests spotlighting lemons, mangoes, almonds, figs, and citrus fruits. Additionally, numerous small and medium
enterprises (SMEs) will exhibit locally sourced agricultural and artisanal products.

H.E. Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of ADTD, emphasized the cultural and economic importance of the festival, stating:
“The Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival is a vital platform to honor the significance of palm trees and dates in Emirati society. Dates and
honey embody our legacy, and through this event, we aim to promote regional agricultural products in line with national sustainability goals
and leadership vision.”

Expanding on previous editions, the festival will include a broader set of competitions tailored for multiple age groups. Traditional Emirati
performances such as Al Ayyala and police music bands will entertain attendees at the main theatre. A photography contest will also be
announced during the festival.

In addition to entertainment, the event will feature educational sessions on palm tree cultivation and beekeeping techniques. Workshops will
cover topics like palm trunk drawing, medal weaving, diamond colouring, Suroud decoration, and Al Jafeer decoration. Daily auctions of
dates and honey will be held, with part of the proceeds dedicated to charity.

Cultural exhibitions will offer insights into traditional Emirati life, and a children’s corner will host artistic performances, interactive games,
and educational activities related to palm trees and their benefits.
