With several megacities towering structures, and ongoing infrastructure projects underway, Saudi Arabia leads the
GCC region for mega construction projects. The country is substantially investing in infrastructure development, in
accordance with its ambitious Vision 2030 plan, which is opening doors to a plethora of opportunities in the
engineering and construction industries.

Eddies emphasised that Saudi Arabia is a highly ambitious country, and therefore, promoting innovation further is
required since the goals are so high, and it will require the best in engineering and innovation. In addition, Eddies
mentioned that Fugro has been in Saudi for quite a few decades now and the company’s role in the country has
evolved.

Towards the end of the interview, Eddies highlighted the significance of formulating more efficient solutions that utilise
less water and generate less CO2, underlining the need for more sustainable assets, infrastructure, and efficiency.
He also underscored the importance of developing risk management strategies for complex infrastructure projects.
