9/10/24, 1:58 PM Dell and Red Hat Team Up to Boost Open Source AI on PowerEdge
Dell Technologies and Red Hat Partner to Enhance Open
Source AI on Dell PowerEdge and Red Hat Enterprise
Linux AI
Key Points:
– Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI) has been designated as the preferred platform for AI applications on Dell PowerEdge
servers.
– Dell PowerEdge servers will be the first to receive validation for RHEL AI, aiming to simplify the development, testing, and
deployment of large language models (LLMs) for enterprise use.
Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) and Red Hat, Inc., a global leader in open source solutions, are teaming up to integrate Red
Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI) with Dell PowerEdge servers. RHEL AI is a foundational model platform designed to
optimize the development, testing, and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI (gen AI) models. As part of
this collaboration, RHEL AI will be the preferred platform for the Dell PowerEdge R760xa server.
This partnership aims to help organizations implement effective AI and machine learning (AI/ML) strategies, scaling their IT
infrastructure and supporting enterprise applications. By offering a unified AI experience on AI-optimized hardware, the
collaboration seeks to streamline AI operations for users, with continuous testing and validation of hardware solutions,
including NVIDIA accelerated computing, in conjunction with RHEL AI.
RHEL AI combines open source Granite LLMs from IBM Research, InstructLab model alignment tools, and a community-
driven model development approach through the InstructLab project. It is provided as an optimized, bootable Red Hat
Enterprise Linux (RHEL) image for individual servers across hybrid cloud environments, and is included in Red Hat OpenShift
AI, Red Hat’s hybrid cloud MLOps platform for scaling models and InstructLab across distributed clusters.
The RHEL AI solution on Dell PowerEdge servers will be available in Q3 2024, with opportunities to test the solution at Dell
Customer Solution Centers worldwide.
