The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations

Development Programme (UNDP) have successfully concluded the ninth edition of the

Knowledge Summit, held from November 18 to 19, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The
event, themed ‘Future Skills and AI Economy,’ attracted significant attention with over 3,000 in-

person attendees and more than 22,000 online participants.

The summit featured over 40 panel discussions and dialogues, bringing together more than 50

international experts and academics specializing in artificial intelligence, technology, economy,
education, and environmental sectors. These sessions presented innovative ideas and visions

about future skills, as well as the challenges and opportunities presented by advanced

technologies, particularly AI.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, emphasized the summit’s growing

importance as a leading global platform for discussing vital issues shaping the world. He
highlighted the event’s focus on the latest international knowledge and scientific trends,

particularly in light of the rapid expansion of AI and other emerging technologies.

A significant achievement of this year’s summit was the organization of the ‘3rd UNESCO World

OER Congress’ for the first time in the Arab region. Additionally, the event hosted the inaugural
meeting of the ‘Global Alliance for Skills Development,’ further strengthening efforts to build a

knowledge economy and solidifying Dubai’s position as a leading destination for prominent

global events.

The Knowledge Summit 2024 emphasized the critical role of future skills in achieving

sustainable economic growth and highlighted the importance of innovation in enhancing global
competitiveness. Discussions centered on empowering future generations with necessary skills

and digital tools to contribute to building a better world.
