Artificial intelligence (AI) will create 97 million new jobs globally by 2025, despite fears of widespread job displacement due to automation, a
UAE official said at the Knowledge Summit on Monday.

Latifa Alshehhi, Director of Investment Data Department at the Ministry of Investment, highlighted the transformative impact of AI on the
global labor market. “AI will not only replace certain roles but also create new opportunities, including jobs we’ve never seen before, like AI
trainers and robotics specialists,” she said.

Alshehhi emphasized the importance of education and upskilling in adapting to this shift. “Equipping our workforce with relevant skills is
critical. Even my grandmother has learned to use basic AI tools,” she added, showcasing how technology can be made accessible to all
generations.
Experts at the summit echoed her views. Dr. Ayman El-Sherbiny from ESCWA stressed the need for ethical frameworks and regional
collaboration to harness AI’s benefits responsibly. “The future belongs to countries that adopt AI with responsibility and foresight,” he said.

The UAE has already taken steps to lead in AI innovation. Initiatives like the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence are
paving the way for specialized education and workforce development.
