Dubai to open two new Salik toll gates on major routes

Two new Salik toll gates in Dubai are expected to begin operations this year, according to the
Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday (January 19).

The new toll gates will be situated at Business Bay Crossing on Al Khail Road and Al Safa
South on Sheikh Zayed Road, between Al Meydan Street and Umm Al Sheif Street.

The new toll gates are expected to begin operations in November 2024, which will increase
Salik’s number of toll gates to ten from the current eight.

Al Safa South will be connected to the existing Al Safa North toll gate and commuters will
only be charged once if they pass through both gates within one hour in the same direction.

According to RTA, the upcoming toll gate in the Business Bay Crossing is expected to ease
traffic congestion on Al Khail Road by 15 percent, and decrease the traffic volume on Al
Rabat Street by up to 16 percent.
