First Autonomous Drone Parcel Delivery Trial Conducted in Abu Dhabi

The first autonomous drone parcel delivery trial was recently conducted in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant milestone in logistics
innovation. This trial was supported by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, which facilitated the launch of the initial pilot flight for
autonomous parcel delivery.

The pilot flight was carried out with the assistance of aviation technology firms LODD and 7X, alongside EMX, an express delivery provider.
A video shared by the Abu Dhabi Media Office illustrated the process, showing a package attached to the drone as it flew across Khalifa City
to reach its designated drop site.

This trial forms part of the strategy promoted by the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council, which aims to foster the development and
integration of smart mobility solutions within Abu Dhabi. Oversight for the trial was provided by the General Civil Aviation Authority
(GCAA) and the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC). The initiative is also aligned with efforts to localize production and develop
infrastructure that positions Abu Dhabi as a global hub for advanced industries and innovation.

The test flight in Khalifa City demonstrated the potential of autonomous aerial parcel delivery systems. The package was successfully
transported from a local post office to a specific drop zone using a winch-based delivery system, representing a significant step towards the
broader strategy of deploying drone-based logistic services throughout the emirate.
