Air Arabia: New Direct Flights to Athens from

Sharjah in the UAE

Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC)
operator, on Friday announced the launch of its newest route connecting Sharjah
with Athens, the capital of Greece.
The connection between Sharjah and Athens will debut on June 28 with a frequency
of 4 weekly non-stop flights.
Sharjah, the capital of the eponymous Emirate, is a new destination for Athens
International Airport (AIA). Sharjah is the third-most populous city in the United
Arab Emirates, after Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Commenting on the announcement of the direct Athens – Sharjah connection, AIA
Director of Communications & Marketing Ioanna Papadopoulou referred to a “very
important development” for both the airport and the Greek market.
“This development significantly enhances connectivity between the two destinations,
shaping the environment for the increase of tourist flows and strengthening of
economic relations,” Papadopoulou said.
