Ministry of Culture honours artisans at ‘Make it in the Emirates’

Sharjah24: Asma Al Hammadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Creatives Development
Sector at the Ministry of Culture, stated that the Ministry will be represented by a cultural pavilion at
the Make it in the Emirates forum, which opened today (Monday) at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi. The aim is
to spotlight traditional Emirati crafts and honour the artisans, who are referred to as the “guardians
of heritage” by the General Women’s Union.
Showcasing crafts and creative ventures

Al Hammadi added that the pavilion hosts approximately 50 artisans on a daily basis, as well as
companies that specialise in crafts-related ventures. These enterprises have drawn inspiration from
Emirati history to develop their creative industries, ultimately assisting in the economic
empowerment of the handicraft and industrial sectors.

Inclusive participation across society

She underlined the Ministry of Culture's commitment to ensuring the presence and engagement of
all members of society, including adults, adolescents, and children. She stated that the pavilion is
notable for having contributions from people of determination, as represented by the Zayed Higher
Organisation for People of Determination, as well as displaying handcrafted products
manufactured by penal prison convicts.
