        Dubai  Culture  and  Arts  Authority  (Dubai  Culture)  recently  concluded  the  impactful
        ‘Pillars of Arish: Architecture in Transition’ symposium held at Expo 2025 Osaka–Kansai
        in Japan. This landmark event was organized in collaboration with the UAE Pavilion and
        supported  by  the  Dubai  Cultural  Grant  Programme.  It  served  as  a  vibrant  platform  to
        highlight the UAE’s architectural evolution, celebrating its rich heritage while exploring
        innovative sustainable design approaches. The symposium played a key role in advancing
        Dubai  Culture’s  mission  to  develop  the  creative  economy  and  reinforce  the  UAE’s

        cultural presence on the global stage.

        The symposium aligned closely with the UAE Pavilion’s theme, ‘From Earth to Ether,’
        which illustrates the journey of architectural innovation inspired by traditional methods. A

        central focus was placed on the arish—the traditional palm frond construction technique
        emblematic of Emirati identity. This method was showcased as a symbol of sustainable
        building  practices  that  remain  highly  relevant  within  today’s  urban  planning  and
        architectural discourse. Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, emphasized that
