Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, described the project as a

milestone for the nation’s green transition, highlighting its role in fostering innovation through

the Green Intellectual Property roadmap and enhancing the UAE’s global competitiveness in
sustainable industries.

Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of Expo City

Dubai Authority, said the district would build on Expo City’s legacy of sustainability and serve

as a model for circular economy-driven communities.

The initiative will introduce the UAE’s first Green Licence for companies committed to

environmental and social responsibility, while an on-site IP Office will promote research and

development. Businesses operating in the district are expected to play a key role in reducing
emissions, cutting waste, and creating sustainable jobs.

Announced during the Asia Pacific Cities Summit at Expo City Dubai, the Green Innovation

District underscores the UAE’s growing leadership in sustainable urban and industrial
development.
