“Over the next decade, investment in clean energy and sustainable industries in

the UAE is expected to more than triple,” he said. “The Green Innovation District

will channel this momentum into practical outcomes, supporting renewable-energy
projects, green manufacturing, sustainable mobility, and historical economic

initiatives.”

Driving jobs, SME growth, and youth participation

The district is expected to generate thousands of high-value jobs in sustainable
industries while creating significant opportunities for small and medium

enterprises (SMEs) focused on green technology and research.

Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of

Expo City Dubai Authority, emphasized that the district will serve as a “city-wide
test bed” for innovative climate solutions. At the launch, she announced the

issuance of the UAE’s first Green License, which sets a standard for eco-conscious

businesses operating under a dedicated sustainability framework.

The initiative also prioritizes inclusive participation, encouraging youth
engagement and collaboration between SMEs, research centers, government

entities, academia, and investors. Al Hashimy highlighted that the district is
