The United Arab Emirates and more than 20 African nations have unveiled a new
collaborative roadmap aimed at deepening economic ties through tourism, aviation,
logistics, and digital transformation. The initiative, outlined in a joint ministerial
statement following a high-level roundtable in Dubai, marks a strategic effort to position

tourism as a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable growth across both regions.

Held on the sidelines of the UAE–Africa Tourism Investment Summit 2025, the
roundtable brought together Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy
and Tourism, and ministers from across the African continent. The meeting produced a
framework for an investment mapping that features nearly $6 billion worth of tourism
projects, designed to enhance air connectivity, infrastructure, and innovation.

According to the participating ministers, the partnership seeks to transform tourism from
a cultural pursuit into a core economic pillar, advancing policies that build resilience in
the face of global challenges. The UAE’s success in diversifying its economy through
tourism was presented as a model for African nations seeking to attract quality
investment and expand their own tourism value chains.

The joint declaration identifies five key pillars—tourism, investment, sustainability,
aviation, and innovation—around which future collaborations will revolve. These areas,
officials said, will serve as engines for job creation, infrastructure development,
                                            and technology-driven growth.

“Today, the UAE and Africa stand at a pivotal moment in developing a resilient and

sustainable tourism sector,” Al Marri stated. “This milestone, represented by the $6
