His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, met with ministers from five
countries - including Bahrain, Morocco, Iran, France, and Ireland - to discuss strategies aimed at
strengthening economic relations and fostering cooperation in new economic sectors. These
ministers include His Excellency Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Trade of the
Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Riad Mazur, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Kingdom
of Morocco, His Excellency Abbas AliAbadi, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of the Islamic
Republic of Iran, HE Franck Riester Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, and
His Excellency Simon Coveney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment of Ireland.
The meetings were held during His Excellency Bin Touq’s participation at the 13th Ministerial
Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), held in Abu Dhabi from February 26 to 29,
2024. The conference brought together trade ministers and senior officials from around the world
to deliberate on the regulations guiding international trade and to explore avenues for its future
evolution.
During separate meetings with the five ministers, His Excellency reviewed the efforts of the UAE
in line with the directives of its wise leadership to advance economic integration globally and
foster strategic alliances with key markets. Emphasizing the transition to a dynamic, innovative
economic framework, he highlighted the introduction of national initiatives aimed at supporting
sustainable growth and enhancing the country’s competitiveness on the regional and global stage,
thereby consolidating UAE’s position as a leading economic destination.
Discussion of Support for Emerging Enterprises in UAE and Bahrain Markets:
Bin Touq held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of
Industry and Trade of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The focus was on enhancing collaboration between
the two countries across various sectors, including the new economy, small and medium
enterprises, entrepreneurship, tourism and circular economy.
During the meeting, Bin Touq asserted that the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain
share deep relations and close historical ties. The economic relations between the two countries
