Objectives of the Award The purpose of launching the award and celebrating the best
knowledge makers and pioneers of science and innovation is represented by three main
objectives: encouraging those concerned and working in the field of knowledge, in the belief
that it is an essential part of building a modern knowledge society, and motivating the
knowledge and scientific community to continue research and creativity to come up with
innovative solutions that will Addressing emerging global challenges, supporting paths of
knowledge transfer, dissemination and development around the world, and contributing to
establishing a stimulating environment for the production and exchange of knowledge
among the various parties concerned with its application and development at the theoretical
and practical levels.
The value of the award is “one million US dollars,” as an incentive sum aimed at supporting
efforts made to spread and develop human knowledge, and to encourage individuals and
institutions to find new ways to develop and enrich knowledge.
Fields of the Award The Award covers all aspects of knowledge, development, innovation,
leadership and creativity, including education, scientific research, and the development of
educational institutions, and leaves the door open to identifying other areas of knowledge
that the Board of Trustees may see to add from time to time in light of the development of
science and technology and the needs of society.
Nomination for the award has a global character, not just a local one, as creative and
innovative individuals with cognitive achievements from all over the world have the right to
nominate for the award. The award also has an institutional character that allows
government agencies, companies, institutions, associations, bodies and local, regional and
international organizations to apply for nomination.
Since the launch of the award a decade ago, many inventors, innovators, scientists, and
knowledge figures, men and women, and an elite group of educational and research
institutions have been nominated, and a group of knowledge pioneers whose inventions,
additions, and proposals have had a great impact on all of humanity have won the award.
“The pinnacle of knowledge”
It is worth noting that the “Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award”
contributed to enhancing the momentum of the “Knowledge Summit”, one of the pioneering
events organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, by
attracting more international attention to this knowledge demonstration, the first of its kind in
the region. The award is awarded within the “Knowledge Summit” activities. It is expected
that the names of this year’s award winners will be announced during the “Knowledge
Summit 2024” so that the Foundation will continue to celebrate knowledge, honor its
pioneers, and inspire more innovators to come up with innovative ideas that chart a better
future for humanity.
