During the past fortnight, as Dubai’s streets transformed into waterways and images
circulated globally, many of us residing in this dynamic city received a flood of
messages. The first question from family, friends, and well-wishers was invariably,
“Hope you guys are safe?” Bewildered inquiries quickly followed this concern: “How did
this happen to Dubai?”
