        affected

All the advice you need to get dried out quickly

With record-breaking rainfall hitting Dubai in the last 24 hours, many homes have been affected by
flooding. Worried about what to do next?

The first step is to contact your Homeowners Insurance company to check if you’re covered. Take
pictures to document any water damage – to rooms, furniture, items – as you’ll need them to submit a
        report.

To tackle the flooded water, Dubai Municipality recommended these tips via Instagram:

        1. Ensure internal drains and gutters are clean to allow acceleration of rainwater drainage.

        2. Use designated rainwater drains to drain rainwater collection.

        3. Avoid opening sewage drains to drain rainwater inside and outside home boundaries.

        4. Report any emergency via 800900 or WhatsApp.

For anyone whose home is water-logged, the team at Breathe Home Maintenance suggests these
        top tips:

        1. Safety first – If the electrics have gone do not touch the distribution board, especially if water has
entered the box, which is extremely dangerous.

        2. Ask for help – Call your maintenance provider straight away.

        3. Help the water out – Use a rubber-ended brush to help push the water out of the property into the
garden or road. Do not push water down kitchen or bathroom drains, as drains get blocked very
        quickly here.
