UAE and Indonesia Ministers Discuss Boosting Tourism Cooperation

Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE's Minister of Economy, met with Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Indonesia's Minister of
Tourism, to discuss enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries. The meeting focused on increasing mutual
tourism flows and highlighted the strong historical ties and strategic partnership between the UAE and Indonesia.
Bin Touq emphasized the importance of the tourism sector in fostering economic relations, noting the significant progress in
bilateral cooperation. He mentioned that over 174 flights connect the two countries monthly, operated by UAE's national
carriers. The UAE's 'Tourism Strategy 2031' aims to strengthen the country's position as a top global tourism destination,
increase the sector's GDP contribution to AED 450 billion, attract AED 100 billion in investments, and draw 40 million
hotel guests.
The ministers explored opportunities in tourism, aviation, and travel for the private sector and discussed the importance of
MICE tourism. They agreed on implementing new training and recreational initiatives to boost tourism flows and launching
joint marketing campaigns to promote tourist attractions in both countries.
Bin Touq invited the Indonesian minister to the fourth edition of Investopia in February 2025, a platform to explore
investment opportunities in the UAE.
