Statement by H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy
and Tourism on Emirati Women's Day 2025
Abu Dhabi, August 27, 2025:
His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, stated that Emirati Women's Day is a
highly significant national occasion, during which the UAE reflects on the groundbreaking achievements of its women,
made possible by the nation's visionary leadership. “Emirati women have played a crucial role in our comprehensive
development,” H.E. said, highlighting their contributions to nurturing generations, strengthening national identity, and
fostering community values.
H.E. also praised the inspiring examples set by Emirati women leaders who continue to excel on regional and global
stages - most notably Shaikha Al Nowais, who made history as the first woman to be appointed Secretary-General of
the United Nations World Tourism Organization. This landmark achievement stands as a powerful testament to the
UAE's leadership in empowering women and strengthening their global presence.
His Excellency highlighted that this year's celebration of Emirati Women's Day under the theme “Hand in Hand, We
Celebrate 50 Years” carries profound national and humanitarian significance. It reflects the spirit of collaboration that
defines the UAE's unique model in empowering Emirati women, who today hold esteemed positions across various
fields - thanks to the unwavering support of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General
Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the
Family Development Foundation, and Mother of the Nation.
