H.E. Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, emphasised that this
project underscores the Municipality's dedication to making Dubai a more appealing and
innovative city by improving its coastal facilities and infrastructure.

Al Hajri said: “The project is set to improve security and safety measures for maritime
traffic and commercial operations within Dubai Creek. As a significant symbol of the
city’s growth, Dubai Creek serves as a vibrant artery at the heart of Dubai. Facilitating
the passage of over 13,000 ships annually, it plays a key role in fostering the economic
and social prosperity of the emirate. Additionally, the creek further supports commercial
dealings with neighboring markets in the region.”

“We have implemented several measures to mitigate the risks posed by climate change
and rising sea levels, closely monitoring changes on both sides of the creek.
Furthermore, we have conducted technical studies to devise construction designs that
can enhance the efficiency of the marine docks on both banks. These designs adhere to
the highest global standards, ensuring the preservation of the supporting walls’ stability
and safeguarding against increased flooding during seasonal weather conditions.” Al
               Hajri added.

Measures have been taken to address the challenges posed by climate change and
rising sea levels, including close monitoring of the creek's sides and conducting
technical studies for construction designs. These designs, adhering to top global
standards, aim to improve the efficiency of marine docks on both banks, ensuring the
stability of the supporting walls and protection against increased flooding during
               seasonal weather shifts.

The 14-month project includes restoring the 2.1 km Deira pier, involving the
replacement and rehabilitation of damaged sections of the concrete wall, extending to a
depth of 8 meters and raising its height to 3 meters. This will facilitate the safe docking
               of ships.

By undertaking this project, the Municipality seeks to improve docking and navigation
services and facilities, including the installation of 200 anchors across the dock.

Dubai Creek remains a crucial historical maritime channel, serving as a testament to the
beginning of Dubai’s trade relations with the world dating back over a century. It
continues to be a pivotal historical, commercial, and economic site, with a host of
modern projects, and serves as a major tourist attraction for residents and visitors.
