4/18/25, 11:29 AM UAE Joins Ireland In A New Era Of Economic And Tourism Collaboration With MoU And Joint Economic Commission - Travel And …
His Excellency Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Her
Excellency Niamh Smyth, the Ireland Minister for Trade Promotion, AI, and Digital
Transformation, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at
strengthening economic and technical cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and
Ireland. This agreement also marks the formation of a Joint Economic Commission, which is
designed to foster growth and deepen private sector collaboration between the two nations.

The MoU focuses on expanding bilateral trade and establishing the Joint Economic
Committee to enhance communication and cooperative efforts. It will explore new
opportunities in key areas, including trade and investment, energy efficiency, renewable
energy, infrastructure development, the digital and green economy, supply chain resilience,
food security, healthcare technology, and more. At its core, the agreement seeks to build
economic and technical partnerships based on shared principles of fairness and mutual
        benefit.

As part of the agreement, the Joint Economic Committee will encourage the exchange of
business delegations, share information about economic trends and initiatives, and work to
create a favorable environment for reciprocal investment. The MoU also calls for both
countries to collaborate at international exhibitions, conferences, and seminars, addressing
        any barriers to economic cooperation.

The UAE and Ireland share a strong bond, underpinned by a mutual commitment to
advancing innovation and technology-driven economies. Both nations are focused on
building robust business ecosystems to attract foreign direct investment in strategic sectors.
With more than 1,000 Irish trademarks registered in the UAE, including key players like
Stripe and Kentech Group, the growing economic relationship is evident. Previous
agreements, such as the one between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and
Enterprise Ireland, underscore the benefits of enhanced trade and connectivity.

The creation of the Joint Economic Committee will serve as a critical platform for advancing
economic dialogue and collaboration, allowing the two countries to develop programs that
foster stronger ties and promote sustainable growth. With non-oil trade between the UAE and
Ireland reaching US$1.1 billion in 2024—up from US$694 million in 2019—this partnership is
poised to elevate trade relations to new levels, reflecting the abundant opportunities for
        mutual growth.
