services that meet the aspirations of tourists

Abu Dhabi, 28 April 2025 – H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman
of the Emirates Tourism Council, met with H.E. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Indian Minister of
Culture and Tourism, to explore the strengthening of cooperation in the tourism and hospitality
sectors and support mutual tourism flows.

During the meeting, H.E. Bin Touq said that the UAE and India share strong strategic relations
based on cooperation and economic integration. The unprecedented growth in the volume of
tourism exchanges reflects the depth of people-to-people relations and cultural ties between the
two nations and affirms tourism’s role in enhancing the comprehensive economic partnership
between them. This opens up wider horizons for developing innovative tourism products and
services that meet the aspirations of visitors and boosting the sector's contribution to sustainable
               growth of both economies.

The Minister of Economy added: “India is a key economic and tourism partner for the UAE, and
we are working towards enhancing cooperation in the fields of sustainable, medical, and cultural
tourism, as well as adventure tourism, shopping and MICE tourism for mutual benefits.”

The Emirati and Indian sides exchanged views on new mechanisms for promoting cooperation
among the relevant authorities in the sector, encouraging sustainable tourism projects between the
two countries. It will also help leverage the capabilities and opportunities offered by both nations,
particularly in infrastructure and logistics. The meeting also highlighted the importance of
continued collaboration and coordination between the concerned parties in both countries to
increase the flow of tourism between the two markets.

Tourism is a key pillar in the growing economic relations between the UAE and India. India is
considered one of the top five tourism source markets for the UAE, with the country welcoming
over two million Indian tourists annually. Air traffic between the UAE and India is also
experiencing continuous growth, with 555 flights per week operated by Emirates airlines.
