The UAE has taken another big step in strengthening its global trade by officially putting
into effect new trade agreements with Costa Rica and Mauritius. These agreements,
known as Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (Cepas), became active on
Wednesday and aim to boost trade and investment between the UAE and these countries.
With these new deals, the UAE has now implemented a total of eight Cepas. Earlier, it had
signed similar agreements with India, Israel, Turkey, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Georgia.
The Ministry of Economy announced that these partnerships will help the UAE build
stronger trade relations with important global markets.
Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, described the agreements as a
major step in the UAE’s efforts to expand international trade. He explained that the deals
will help create deeper economic ties with Central America and Africa, which will benefit
businesses and open up new opportunities in various sectors. These agreements also focus
on important areas like food security and clean energy development.
