The second day of the 20th edition of the Dubai International Humanitarian
Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD 2024) continued
with 24 main sessions and 144 innovative workshops.
DIHAD 2024 convenes key stakeholders from NGOs, UN Agencies, and
governmental bodies, alongside private sector providers, under the theme of
"Humanitarian Diplomacy and a Journey to the Future." DIHAD
Glasshouse hosts workshops to incubate emerging humanitarian projects,
fostering partnerships and innovation. Day two's sessions focus on resource
optimization for healthcare and education. Laila Baker of UNFPA highlights
the importance of humanitarian diplomacy for gender equality, stressing
women and youth empowerment. Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi emphasizes
inclusive policies and youth empowerment in humanitarian diplomacy,
essential for sustainable and inclusive action in conflict-affected regions.
DIHAD 2024 organized "Children of DIHAD" to engage youth in humanitarian
action, fostering teamwork and inclusion. "The Diplomacy in Giving World"
session highlighted children's contributions to charity efforts. In "Humanitarian
Diplomacy: Leadership and New Actors," experts discussed leadership
dynamics amid evolving crisis response. Panos Moumtzis shared insights on
collaboration among diverse actors. "Humanitarian Diplomacy and Global
Health Challenges" explored health crises in humanitarian settings, with Dr.
Mukesh Kapila and Paul Bekkers offering perspectives. Dr. Nehal
Hefny discussed unique health challenges in the Middle East and North
Africa, emphasizing tailored responses. Speakers stressed integrating health
into diplomacy for effective crisis responses and addressed connecting
resources to combat global poverty.
