LOGIC Consulting Report Highlights UAE's

Significant Progress In Global Food Security

LOGIC Consulting, a leading management consulting firm in the MENA region, has released a new
study titled “UAE’s Food Security Leap,” which details the United Arab Emirates' significant strides
toward achieving global leadership in food security. The report aligns with the nation’s ambitious “We

the UAE 2031” vision, underscoring its commitment to becoming a key global partner and an
exceptional economic hub.

The study highlights the UAE's success in meeting the goals set out in its visionary strategy, with
notable advancements in food security reflected across various global indices. According to Seif

Rabie, LOGIC UAE Managing Partner, family businesses play a crucial role in this progress. “Family
businesses are key enablers in achieving food development goals, and the UAE’s prominent family-
owned enterprises, such as Al Futtaim, Al Ghurair, and Al Majid, are well-positioned to drive growth in
this sector,” Rabie stated.

Despite these advancements, the report identifies significant challenges that the UAE must overcome

to rank among the top 10 countries in the Global Food Security Index (GFSI). These challenges
include land desertification, diminishing freshwater resources, the impacts of climate change, and a
heavy reliance on imported food, which currently accounts for 85% to 90% of the country's supply.

In response to these challenges, the UAE launched the “National Food Security Strategy 2051” in

2018, aiming to secure a top 10 position in the GFSI and establish the UAE as a global leader in food
security by 2051. The strategy represents a long-term commitment to overcoming the nation’s food
security challenges and positioning the UAE as a key player on the global stage.

The study also reveals that the UAE now accounts for over 18% of the Middle East's food trade and
contributes more than 26% of the region's food exports, reflecting its growing influence in the global
