Dubai Ruler approves $8bn ‘Tasreef’ project

The ‘Tasreef’ project, will enhance the capacity of Dubai’s rainwater drainage system by 700%, covering
all areas of the emirate.

Dubai: Dubai’s ruler and UAE vice president, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved
the ‘Tasreef’ project, which aims to expand Dubai’s rainfall drainage system. The program, with a total
estimated cost of AED 30 billion, is among the biggest strategic infrastructure projects in the UAE.
The “Tasreef” project will increase Dubai’s rainfall drainage system’s capacity by 700 percent, including
the whole emirate.
In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of
Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai,
Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the United Arab Emirates, the project was approved.
The growth and prosperity of Dubai are contingent upon the ongoing improvement of its sustainable
infrastructure, as stressed by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The project intends to
provide a cutting-edge, secure, adaptable, and future-proof drainage infrastructure.
