the Ministry of Economy and the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai during the
next phase, and launching initiatives aimed at expanding the work of small and medium-
sized companies in new economic sectors, especially technology, artificial intelligence,
manufacturing and sustainable transportation, in addition to discussing ways to remove all
challenges facing owners of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs,
especially with regard to licensing technology companies, fees and research and
development.
During this meeting, I was briefed on the programmes and initiatives offered by the
Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, and its role in strengthening
the entrepreneurship system in Dubai and enabling small and medium enterprises to grow
and prosper.

In the context of enhancing cooperation with economic entities to support entrepreneurs,
Alia Al Mazrouei met with Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Sharjah
Economic Development Department, where she was briefed on the most prominent
initiatives launched by the Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurial Projects
(Ruwad), affiliated with the department, most notably the “Tashbeek” initiative, which aims
to enhance communication and exchange of experiences among entrepreneurs, the
“Najum” initiative, which aims to train and qualify students and raise their awareness in the
field of entrepreneurship, and the “Miles Ruwad” initiative, which works to hold continuous
dialogue sessions to enhance the culture of entrepreneurship among entrepreneurs, and
raise awareness of the importance of mandatory workshops to obtain the privileges of
membership of the institution.
The meeting also discussed the challenges facing entrepreneurship in Sharjah, such as
the small number of companies in some important sectors, the difficulty of competition,
attracting highly skilled cadres and people, and the high cost of some operating fees. In
this regard, the Foundation presented proposals to address these challenges, such as
expanding the scope of meetings and forums at the national level and benefiting from
agreements with other countries to enhance business opportunities for entrepreneurs.

Alia Al Mazrouei also met with Najla Al Midfa, Vice President of the Sharjah
Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), where she was briefed on the center’s efforts to support
