UAE, Azerbaijan agree to develop economic
partnership

The UAE and the Republic of Azerbaijan have agreed to develop their economic partnership in
the sectors of entrepreneurship, small and medium enterprises, new economy, tourism, aviation,
industry, innovation, technology, agriculture, food security, logistics, culture, energy, renewable
energy and investment.
This came during the meeting of the ninth session of the Joint Governmental Committee for
Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation between the two countries, which was held in the
Azerbaijani city of Shusha, headed by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of
Economy, and His Excellency Mikail Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, in the
presence of a number of senior officials, and representatives of government bodies and the
private sector in the two countries.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri stressed that the UAE and Azerbaijan are linked by
strategic relations and a distinguished economic partnership that has developed over more than
three decades. These relations receive great attention from the leaderships of the two friendly
countries, especially in light of the high-level official visits between the two countries, the most
recent of which was the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
President of the State, “may God protect him,” to Azerbaijan last January and the signing of a
memorandum of understanding on the strategic partnership between the two countries in areas
of common interest.
His Excellency said: “The committee meeting represents an important milestone in
strengthening economic ties between the UAE and Azerbaijan, as the programme of this
