Statement by H.E. Ali Salem Al Kaabi,
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Family Development Foundation,
On ‘Zayed Humanitarian Day’
Al Kaabi:
“Charitable work is a lasting legacy in the UAE and a foundation feature inherited by
generations”.
H.E. Ali Salem Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Family Development
Foundation, affirmed that the Zayed Humanitarian Day is a national occasion that honours the late
founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s legacy, a philanthropic principle that made the United
Arab Emirates one of the world's largest donors of foreign aid. The message and values he had
conveyed to the world have only grown stronger over time, laying the groundwork for the UAE's
present culture of philanthropy.
On the occasion of Zayed Humanitarian Day, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan each year, His
Excellency said: “Since its inception, the UAE has been committed to charitable and humanitarian
work, guided by the wise leadership, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al
Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His
Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential
Affairs"
H.E. pointed out how charity work has been deeply embedded in the culture across all the emirates
and impacts every institution in the country, even at grassroot levels. The nation’s humanitarian
efforts and active participation in aiding the impoverished, reducing the agony of the needy, help the
afflicted from various disasters, and easing the aftermath of natural disasters are significant indicators
of this vision.
