Dubai: Powered by new economies, the share of the non-oil sector in the UAE’s GDP is set to rise to
80 per cent, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, said during an event in Dubai on
Thursday.
“The UAE has a huge diversified economy. It’s 75 per cent non-oil GDP. It’s the highest in the Mena
region. Our target is to reach 80 per cent,” Al Marri said during the Dubai International Project
Management Forum.
“Where are we going to get that additional 5 per cent? We are not going to get it from aviation, retail
or hospitality. We need to get it from new economies,” he said during a panel on ‘Shaping the Digital
Economy’.
