Al Falasi further explained, "The Research Awards serves as a strategic platform to advance critical
thinking and facilitate robust national knowledge production, further supporting key decision-
making processes and policy formulation. The award aims to encourage talented individuals,
including government employees and university students, to conduct scientific research that
addresses both present challenges and leverages future opportunities. It also seeks to combine
scientific research and institutional development, as a means to enhance government efficiency.
Hence, the initiative reflects our broader vision to promote human capital development and invest
in national capabilities, further consolidating Dubai’s position as a global leader in efficiency,
sustainability and knowledge-based governance."
The workshop was led by Dr Amira Kamali, Human Resources Consultant at DGHR. She outlined
the award's strategic objectives, categories, submission procedures, and evaluation criteria. Dr
Kamali highlighted its importance as a dynamic platform for enhancing applied research activities
within the government sector.
Four specialised scientific sessions were part of the workshop. These sessions addressed key
challenges and opportunities in human resources with contributions from notable academics.
Topics included ‘Employee Wellbeing in the Work Environment’ by Dr Hamda Khansaheb from
MBRU; ‘Human Resources Management: Reality, Challenges, and Future’ by Dr Yousif Al Ghalayini
from MBRSG; ‘Developing Human Resources Systems and Policies in Dubai Government’ by Dr
Ayman Ibrahim from RIT Dubai; and ‘Job Skills and Lifelong Learning’ by Professor Mostafa Hassan
from HBMSU.
Future Plans for Awareness
The deadline for submitting research proposals is set for 9th August 2025. Winners will be
announced in October this year. To further raise awareness about the award's objectives and boost
participation among government employees and university students, DGHR plans another
awareness workshop in May.
The Research Awards reflect leadership's vision for developing effective strategies for human
resource empowerment. By adopting globally recognised best practices in institutional work, this
goal can be achieved through active involvement of national talents in creating innovative work
models that are sustainable and future-ready.
