the country’s tourism business. As the sector expands, it contributes more to the

national GDP, with the target of reaching AED450 billion in 2031.

Between January and October 2024, UAE hotel businesses generated an

astounding AED37.1 billion in revenue, representing a 4% rise over the same

period in 2023. Furthermore, hotel occupancy rates rose to about 78 percent, a 2.7

percent increase over previous year. These figures demonstrate the sector’s

resiliency and the growing demand for the UAE as a top global tourism

destination, fueled by high-quality services and unrivaled attractions.

At the inaugural 2025 UAE Tourism Council meeting, Al Marri stressed the

importance of creative projects and activities that would propel the sector forward

in the coming year. The council, which includes the heads and directors-general of

local tourism authorities, also discussed the success of the ‘World’s Coolest Winter’

campaign, which was a major element in luring people to the UAE. Looking ahead,

the council addressed plans for a number of new initiatives and projects aimed at

increasing tourism and strengthening the UAE’s standing on the global stage.
