2/24/25, 2:57 PM ABU DHABI: Minister of Economy and Chairman of the GCAA opens GISS | Times Aerospace
Al Marri said the event ‘reflects a shared commitment to advancing aviation and building a sustainable
future.’
“Undoubtedly, this exceptional event, held today under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,
underscores our nation’s steadfast support for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and its
efforts to enhance aviation sustainability at both regional and global levels,” he said.
As Abu Dhabi hosts the Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS 2025) and the Global
Sustainable Aviation Marketplace (GSAM 2025), the United Arab Emirates reaffirms its leadership in driving
excellence, innovation, and sustainability in aviation.
Al Marri said: “In 2023, the UAE reinforced this role by hosting the Third Conference on Aviation and
Alternative Fuels (CAAF/3) in Dubai, further solidifying its position as a key hub for strategic discussions on
clean energy in aviation. This year’s event, the ICAO 4th GISS 20205 Under the theme “The Next Flight:
Innovating for a Sustainable Tomorrow," highlights the urgent need to strengthen international cooperation
and accelerate innovation to ensure a more sustainable future for the aviation sector.
“The UAE recognises innovation as the cornerstone of aviation’s future and continues to develop advanced
solutions, including AI-driven air traffic management, enhanced passenger experiences, and technologies
that reduce carbon emissions. These innovations are not just technological milestones; they represent the
UAE’s commitment to a smarter, safer, and more sustainable aviation system capable of addressing the
challenges of tomorrow.”
He concluded: “We firmly believe that achieving sustainable aviation requires more than technology or
regulatory frameworks—it demands collaboration, shared responsibility, and a collective vision. Events like
the Global Implementation Support Symposium and the Global Sustainable Aviation Marketplace are not
merely conferences; they serve as catalysts for strategic partnerships and cooperation to shape the future of
our industry. Let us remember that while the challenges we face are global in scale, they are surmountable
through unity, determination, and innovation. The UAE stands fully committed to supporting this mission with
its resources, expertise, and unwavering dedication to fostering sustainability and collaboration in aviation.”
