UAE and Bulgaria explore prospects for enhancing tourism
cooperation and developing joint promotional projects
Discussions focus on improving air connectivity, increasing bilateral
tourism flows & establishing new flight routes to facilitate travel
between the two destinations
Abu Dhabi, 14 May 2025 – H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and
Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, held a meeting with H.E. Miroslav Borshosh,
Bulgarian Minister of Tourism. The ministers discussed strategies to strengthen tourism
cooperation between the UAE and Bulgaria, fostering deeper partnerships in the sector to drive
sustainable economic growth and enhance mutual tourism flows.
H.E. Bin Touq emphasized the remarkable progress in UAE-Bulgaria relations across multiple
sectors, particularly in tourism, which plays a pivotal role in supporting sustainable economic
development. He underscored the need to expand joint efforts in smart tourism initiatives and
knowledge-sharing in innovation and promotion, ensuring both countries deliver exceptional and
sustainable tourism offerings.
Furthermore, H.E. highlighted the UAE’s strategic focus on reinforcing its position as a premier
global tourism hub by developing cutting-edge, environmentally sustainable tourism infrastructure.
He noted that the Bulgarian market offers significant potential for Emirati tourism investments,
given the alignment of both nations’ tourism strategies and objectives.
The meeting also addressed measures to enhance air connectivity, streamline tourist arrivals, and
increase mutual tourism flows. Both sides agreed on the importance of introducing new flight
routes to facilitate travel between the UAE and Bulgaria, further invigorating tourism exchanges.
Additionally, the discussions covered opportunities for joint international marketing campaigns to
promote destinations in both countries. The development of innovative tourism programs targeting
off-peak seasons was also explored to enhance the sector’s sustainability and deliver mutual
economic benefits. Both parties reaffirmed the importance of collaboration within UN Tourism,
supporting global initiatives that advance sustainable tourism practices.
