The United Arab Emirates has officially announced that Wednesday, May 28 will mark the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah, following the
confirmed sighting of the crescent moon on Tuesday evening. As a result, Eid Al Adha 2025 will begin on Friday, June 6, in alignment with
Islamic tradition, which designates the holiday on the 10th day of the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar.

The announcement aligns with similar confirmation from Saudi Arabia, which also declared the start of Dhu Al Hijjah after its moon-
            sighting committees observed the crescent.

Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha Holiday Schedule

The Day of Arafat, a pivotal observance during the Hajj pilgrimage, will be commemorated on Thursday, June 5 (9 Dhu Al Hijjah). This
sacred day sees millions of pilgrims gathering on Mount Arafat in Mecca for prayer and reflection. For Muslims not attending Hajj, Arafat
Day is widely observed through fasting and personal devotion, believed to offer spiritual cleansing and divine rewards.

Eid Al Adha, known as the Feast of Sacrifice, will be celebrated from June 6 to June 8 (10–12 Dhu Al Hijjah), as per the Islamic calendar. The
holiday commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) unwavering faith and willingness to sacrifice for God’s command—a story revered
            across the Muslim world.

            Spiritual Significance and Cultural Traditions

Eid Al Adha holds deep spiritual meaning and is one of the most important festivals in Islam. During this time, Muslims perform special
prayers at mosques, visit relatives, share festive meals, and engage in charitable acts, including the sacrifice of livestock, with the meat
distributed to those in need. The practice symbolises devotion, gratitude, and social responsibility.

As part of the larger Hajj season, Eid Al Adha is not only a religious celebration but also a period of community bonding. Traditions vary by
country, but the universal themes of compassion, generosity, and unity remain at the heart of the observance.
