Held on 20th and 21st February, the symposium,

organised as part of the 'Andalusia: History and

Civilisation' initiative, launched in June last year under

the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin

Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister

and Chairman of the Presidential Court, aims to

spotlight and deepen understanding of the Andalusian

civilisation, where values such as peace and tolerance

stood out. The symposium's dialogue sessions cover a

range of topics, including Andalusian literature, sciences

and knowledge, the Moriscos, and artistic and literary

heritage.

Culture “is the soul of the people; defending and

protecting culture is a categorical imperative of the

whole world”, United Nations translator Jaime Sanchez,

who spoke about translations in Andalusian literature

during the symposium, told the Emirates News Agency

(WAM).

"The study of Arab culture is vital; all interested

countries must make an effort to find ways to cooperate

and disseminate this culture through joint projects and

funding," the expert added.
