Alphonso assumed his current role in 2018 and is a founding member of the Alef Platform. In June
2024, Alef Education was listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, following the IPO of 1.4
billion shares, or 20% of its issued share capital. It raised $514.6 million, valuing the company at
the time of listing at $2.6 billion. Alphonso is also a board member of Thaki. He was previously
general manager and head of Pearson Education’s digital business practice in the Middle East and
Africa.
