Growing Popularity Across Regions

In recent years, obstacle sports have witnessed significant growth in the UAE. Last year alone saw 52 registered events

nationwide. Approximately 9,000 citizens and residents actively engage in these activities. This surge in interest prompted
the establishment of a national federation to oversee its development.

Dubai hosted the World Obstacle Championship in December 2024 at Dubai Police Officer’s Club and Dubai Design
District (D3). Organised by Dubai Police, this event attracted considerable public attention and international praise due to

its excellent organisation and fierce competition.

Regional Expansion

The popularity of obstacle sports is spreading across the Gulf and Arab regions as well. Countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt,

Oman, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Kuwait, and Bahrain have set up national federations dedicated to advancing these sports
within their borders.

Obstacle races challenge athletes with natural or artificial barriers they must overcome quickly. Competitions cater to male,

female, mixed categories across individual races or teams of two or four participants.

This growing interest underscores a broader movement towards embracing diverse sporting activities within these regions.
